When first starting this class, I was unsure of what to expect. Now, I have gained a better understanding of the importance of digital design and its impact on usability for the website user. In this course, I have learned ways to create a more user-friendly site that is engaging, personal, and informational for its visitors. At the beginning of this class, I learned what usability is and how navigation, SEO, and the whole marketing team work together to make a site easier to navigate and find on the web. During this time, I have seen both strengths and weaknesses when it comes to Boarding Pass Coffee's website. For example, while Boarding Pass Coffee has a clear message, it is not clear how they source their beans. One improvement I made to the site was to have a call to action (CTA) that encourages the user to learn about our sourcing by taking them to a landing page that includes our certifications. Along with understanding usability, I also learned how to conduct and analyze user testing. Observing a user navigate the website, taught different ways to make a website more user-friendly to overall improve the customer experience. Overall, each of my classes this far has taught me valuable information about digital marketing. I am excited to see what else I learn as I continue to dive deeper into my degree and build upon my portfolio for my final project.
